Corene Almond, age 93, of Brookfield, died Monday, February 2, 2015, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.
A funeral service will be Friday, February 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Wright-Baker-Hill Funeral Home in Brookfield with Pastor Kelly Bodwell officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in Brookfield. Visitation will begin Thursday at 1:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening.

Evelyn Corene, daughter of Roy Elmer and Ida Lee (Bundies) Smith, was born January 20, 1922 in Shafter. On November 7, 1948, she married Howard L. Almond who preceded her in death on August 8, 2003. Corene was a homemaker and before marriage she was a beauty shop operator. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Brookfield where she taught Sunday School and helped in their bus ministry. Survivors include two daughters, Karen Ceradsky and husband, Bill of Trenton, and Linda Gillispie of Chillicothe; one son, Kenneth Almond and wife, Trisha of High Ridge; nine grandchildren, Jonathan Ceradsky of Trenton and Robert Ceradsky of Tucson, Arizona, Chris Snipes and wife, Stephanie of Springfield, Danelle Coleman and husband, David of Bevier, Monty McCabe and wife, Nellie of Rothville, Billy McCabe and wife, Marsha and Nina Slater and husband, Wyman all of Brookfield, Ellie Almond and Jacob Almond of High Ridge; 11 great- grandchildren; one brother, Ray Smith and wife, Jane of Columbia; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Her parents; four brothers, Earl Smith, Joseph Smith, Robert Smith, and Roy Smith; and two sisters, Frances Flynn and Mary Bohannon also preceded her in death.
