The Marceline Carnegie Library submitted a photo of their entry doors for this year’s Preservation Month promotion “Welcome Home” which took place in May. “These doors have welcomed visitors to the library for 104 years. They are the gateway to anywhere. They inspire us to explore, and to fuel our imaginations. Many generations have crossed that magical threshold to the library. Inspiring to change their lives forever. This is where the adventure begins.”
Their photo will be featured as a semifinalist at the Downtown Revitalization Conference in the “Welcome Home Gallery” on July 31st in Kansas City, and voting will occur for the top 6 photos to be included in the “Welcome Home” poster for Preservation Month in 2025.
Joyce Clapp, the Marceline Carnegie Library Director since 1990, and with her wonderful staff always greet you with a smile and are happy to see patrons make use of the library. Along with lots of new book releases, there are also many books on the history of Marceline, Walt Disney, and a large collection of children’s books. Oh, and they have almost every Marceline High School yearbook in their collection too. Lest we forget, the library also has a number of youth programs for every age to drive kids to read more. If you love reading and kids, stop by to talk about volunteering.
The Marceline Carnegie Library also organizes that semi-annual City Wide Garage Sales that have become a popular event. And in case all of these isn’t enough, the library is also the home of the Marceline Historical Society, which meets on the 4th Monday of every month to talk about and work to preserve Marceline history.
The Marceline Carnegie Library is open Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm and is located next to Ripley Square and the Walt Disney Hometown Museum at 119 E. California Ave.
